Next Time it's Forever!!! We LOVE you Mom!!!

Marleen Marincovich Golonsky returned to her home in Heaven on February 7, 2010 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in San Pedro, California on November 6, 1947 and married her wonderful husband Joseph, on November 5, 1976. They have five children, Dawn, Matthew, Andrew, Laura and Benjamin, and 6 grandchildren, Elijah, Matthew, Kaleb, Madison, Selah, and Mason. A new granddaughter, Emily Marleen, will be arriving in April. Marleen also leaves behind her parents, Andrew and Matilda Marincovich of Long Beach, her sisters Andrea and Debbie and their families. She accomplished many things during her time with us. While in the Peace Corps, she learned the Arabic language and established a school for children in a remote area of Morocco. Marleen went on to become a Special Education Teacher for the Tulare County Schools and was awarded "Teacher of the Year, 2009". But of all her achievements, she was most proud of her loving family.

She will be missed by all who had the privilege to know her: family, friends, coworkers, and students. Because she touched our lives, she will live on through our many memories of her. A Funeral mass will be held at the St. Anne’s Catholic Church in Porterville, California on Feburary 12, 2010 at 11:00am. Following the service, she will be put to rest with her beloved Nicko and Jonathon at the Porterville cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Dawn Golonsky who will forward the charitable contributions. Her address is P.O. Box 1413, Avalon, Calif. 90704.

Mary Ann just called me and gave me the news so I signed on to the blog right away and was so touched by your words. I am so so sorry for the loss of your mother girls it truly breaks my heart. She fought until the end and showed us all her incredible spirit. Mary Ann, Leticia, and I will continue to work hard in her classroom and try and make her proud of us. Her classroom is a living tribute to her, everywhere you look it's all her. It will be hard to go to work this morning and see all of her drawing and her handwriting everywhere. She will be so, so missed but all of the students she has worked so hard with through the years, including my 3 sons are her living legacy.
She loved you her family the most. When she talked about each of you it was with such total love and pride. You are her greatest accomplishment. May peace be with each one of you. Your mother was an amazing woman and I feel truly lucky to have called her my mentor and friend.
God Bless you all,
Lori Collins

She lived a life worth living, full of love and giving, what a blessed one. She will always be loved by those special kids she cared for and by the moms that she encouraged.
I am sorry for your loss and may the Lord console you all.
Love,
Sonia Ibrahim (Timmy' mom)

It can be easy for families to self destruct during a lenghty and difficult illness such as your mother experienced. Your family, however, has been a shining example to the world as we have watched your circle of love and strength hold not only each other but open to include all those who loved Marleen. You were blessed by a most unique woman, one who spent her life building into the lives of others. She, in turn, was blessed by all of the love and laughter that came back her way from those so precious to her...you, her family, most precious of all. It goes without saying that she will be missed because how could a woman of such worth not be missed? My thoughts and prayers are with you.

My thoughts and prayers go out to you. The other writers said it so well...Marleen's worth to the world can not be measured. But if it could, and it was given to her, she would have given it all away to anyone who wanted or needed it. She was an angel to most and a hero to many. She showed us hope and inspired us to be better. She will be remembered every day, and from that something good will happen. I loved her, too, and I will miss her. God Bless you all and bring you strength and peace.

Thank you for sharing your Marleen with us. You have truly taught us all what "FAMILY" truly means. Your Mom/Wife/Daughter was an inspiration to us and we were blessed to have known her even if it was for just a few years. Our thoughts are with you.

She was such a blessing to Christian-his first teacher. Marleen made a difficult time in our lives-, easier and comforting to come to school. I love that she threw confetti at the door ....

Marleen and I both came from San Pedro and just happened to live down the road from each other in Lindsay for a number of years. My daughters babysat all the little Golonskys for years. She was truly one of the most wonderful people I have known, and certainly captured the essence of a a great humanitarian. In addition to her love and devotion to Joe, she loved being a mother and just absolutley delighed in it. I feel so blessed for having known her, and for all the lives she has touched. She will be missed. May the Lord be with all of you.

Love,

Your blog was the most beautiful tribute to your mother. To watch you all gather around her as she was dying, to give her every opportunity to be part of what life had to offer, to participate and feel loved... you gave her it all. I only hope that when my mum's time comes, that I can be with her to share her passing from this world to the other. Your mum and you were so blessed.
Thankyou for sharing such a person and painful journey - I have learnt so much.
