After spending this past weekend celebrating four birthday's, my mom has been spending the week receiving radiation therapy at 8:30 am at the Sequoia Regional Cancer Center. She has not had the same side effects as chemo so she has taken on teaching her afternoon class and has been very excited, but a little tired.

While waiting in the dressing room for the technician she picked out a hat that was made by someone in the community by an organization called "Hats for Hope". (Don't worry grandma you still have your job and are better at it anyway!)

Radiation

My mom had another simulation session yesterday which is a process used to plan radiation therapy so that the target area is precisely located and marked. This morning she started her radiation therapy. This machine aims radiation at her cancer. She will receive radiation therapy once a day, 5 days a week, Monday through Friday at 8:30am in Visalia. Treatment is expected to last 6 to 7 weeks.

A common question (I even questioned): Will external beam radiation therapy make her radioactive?

No, external beam radiation therapy will not make her radioactive. She may safely be around other people, pregnant woman, even babies and young children.

Downtown Disney

After having a great time at Disneyland, my mom, Dad, Dawn and Elijah went to I-Hop for breakfast and then to Downtown Disneyland trying to extend the pleasant experience... They didn't want to leave. What a GREAT time they had!

All Good Things Come to an End

After a great day of making more wonderful memories, at Disneyland, my mom, dad, Dawn, and Elijah watched the fireworks and then went on the traditional "last" ride around the park on the train. Then, they had a good nights sleep at the Marriott hotel... Thank you, Mary Ann and Family.

Meeting Friends at Disneyland is Extra Special

What would you do in life without GREAT friends...? Thank you everyone for your love and support throughout the years! We Love You!

Thank you, Jane!

Thank you, Jane for making it possible for my mom and dad to enter Disneyland to just enjoy a day together "people watching"...

Happy Birthday, Dawn!

A Birthday wish and pancakes at Grandma's before celebrating a "Special" day.

Another year older... another great time at "The Happiest Place on Earth"

I met my mom and Aunt Debbie at the Doctor' s office today and we watched a short video on Radiation Therapy. My mom then went back to the simulation room where they placed markings in areas they will be treating. Her next appointment is scheduled for October 22nd and she is excited to return to work slowly.

My mom and dad are grandparents again... Selah Grace was born today, on my dad's Birthday, at 2:24pm weighing 5.5 lbs. Yay, another granddaughter! Congrats!

Another year has past... One year ago... WOW! and after this year he is much wiser... (we think)

My dad and my mom have really had to pull together, once again..., yet this time it wasn't to raise children but to battle cancer. We love you both!!! Happy Birthday, Dad!

BEE Aware It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month

My sister's class this year is going to be BEEs for the Island's Halloween parade... to send out the message to BEE Aware that it is Breast Cancer Awareness month.
Some of you may have remembered when they were "Especially Sweet", last year, as M&Ms.
